On the Bright Side

I do believe I am recovered from my “life sucks” funk.
The passing of both of my father’s parents in the span of 3 weeks (plus my brother-in-law’s illness) really had me questioning life, the universe, and everything.  My faith was rattled to the core.  What little I have left, that is.  But, after spending a [...]

Wait, Wait!

I had the incredible opportunity to attend the live taping of NPR’s “Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me!” Thursday night at Proctors in Schenectady. Granted, I paid for the ticket, but it was still amazing. I have been a fan of this show for about a year now - I don’t know how long WAMC [...]

Tomato Soup

I had an incredible cup of Creamy Tomato & Basil Bisque today at the Muddy Cup in Downtown Schenectady (inside Proctors).  Wendalicious!
Plus they have great coffee and scones, too.  The Muddy Cup has become my second office - when I have meetings, I try to schedule them there.  My friends at Proctors tell me they [...]

Potent Quotables

Sweetpea and her friends sprite and randomduck ran this meme over the past couple of days and I LOVE me some movie quotes, so I wanted to try it. Here are the rules:

Pick 10 of your favorite movies.

This past Saturday night, my wonderful husband took me to a very elegant restaurant that I’d been dying to try for many years - The Scrimshaw at the Desmond in Albany. I’ve been to several weddings, conferences, and sales meetings at the Desmond over the years, but had never experienced any of their restaurants [...]

-1/3 jar roasted red peppers
-salt & pepper to taste
Whiz it all up in the food processor, and [...]

Last night, Bob and I joined my friends Nell and Skip for dinner at Parisi’s Steakhouse in Schenectady. The occasion was Schenectady’s 3rd annual Restaurant Week (Jan 29-Feb 2), which I’m proud to say I had a hand in starting back in 2005.
The deal is this: for the low price of $19.62 (1962 signifies [...]

Football + Cake = Birthday

So…my birthday is Sunday. Yes, Super Bowl Sunday. When did the NFL decide that it would move the Super Bowl into February?
According to Wikipedia:
Due to the September 11, 2001 attacks and the NFL schedule being moved one week back, Super Bowl XXXVI was rescheduled from the original date of January 27 to [...]

My 80’s Hunk

Your 80s Hunk Is

Bill Gates

Who’s Your 80s Hunk?

Not too surprising, really. I’ve always loved the nerdy guys…
Although, I have to admit, I always had a huge crush on Jason Bateman (Sweetpea’s hunk), back when he played Ricky Schroeder’s friend on “Silver Spoons”, and when he finally got his own show, “It’s Your Move”. [...]

My friend Nell and I went to see Spamalot at Proctors on Wednesday night, and we ventured out for dinner in Schenectady beforehand. We had originally intended to re-visit Aperitivo Bistro on State Street in Schenectady prior to the theatre, but they had absolutely no tables the entire week! Good for them. [...]
